  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Mix in the egg yolk and vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture until a smooth dough forms.
  4. Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough, roll into balls, and place on baking sheets two inches apart. Make an indentation in each ball using your thumb.
  5. Fill each indentation with chocolate chips and bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are set but centers remain soft.
  6. Cool for five minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to wire racks; dust with powdered sugar before serving.
